What are the advantages does exercising have that dieting and surgery or pills don’t have?

Pills don’t work.
Surgery doesn’t address the underlying problems, such as poor diet and lack of exercise.
Gimmick diets generally don’t work, and are just a way to make your wallet thinner, not your waist line.

Dieting can be done without doing exercise, but exercise improves your stamina and strength. Weight training can improve your posture, reduce the chance of pulling muscles, and it makes you strong. Cardio exercise increases the health of your heart, and increases your endurance. It also means you can eat a bit more food when you are dieting, plus nice muscle development makes you look good, and increases your confidence.

I really want to lose about 30 pounds from my weight and i need help but i don’t want to go unhealthy. i weigh 152 and i should weigh 120 i believe… wats a perfect, healthy diet i should follow and if it means i need to exercise (which i know i do) tell me how long each day and how many days a week.

Eat more fruits and veggies. Cut out soda or any other syrupy drinks COMPLETELY. Go jogging at least twice a week (about a mile each time). Avoid salty snacks (chips, chex mix, etc). If you’re going to eat meat, make sure it’s lean meat, and in a portion no larger than your palm. Drink plenty of water.

And don’t think of this as a diet. Think of this as a change that you’re going to stick to. If you’re looking for a temporary fix, you will get temporary results.

I am on a good diet (lots of water and veggies) and have started working out 3-4 times a week. I am thinking of taking a diet pill additionally to these two things to increase my weight loss. Would it work?

Sure it will, but the minute you quit taking them your metabolism slows down and you have ruined your whole routine. Don’t take them it will ruin your metabolism and it takes forever to get it back on track. You will gain more weight quickly when you quit taking them, and they are bad for you, they age you. I know from experience.

I recently got back from a missions trip working in the kitchen and gained. I’m 5’3 and weight around 126 right with my usual weight around 118. I’m not overweight or think I’m fat but most of it is in my butt and stomach. I would love to lose a few pounds and mostly tone my body with concentration in those areas. I am addicted to sugar so I need a great way to get started. It would be hard for me to wake up tomorrow with a whole new lifestyle so this is going to be a process for me and I’m willing to take my time. I’m not looking for some diet pill that won’t be successful. I would love to hear from those of you who lost weight or toned and exactly how you did it. What is the main area with foods I should be avoiding, how many meals should I eat a day, is snacking okay? Are the diet books worth it, like Bob Green’s Best Life Diet? What sport or exercise will tone those parts the best? What supplements should I be taking, does weight smart one a day work? Thanks!

I lost about 30 lbs in 60 days and I wrote about it in my blog at http://looseweightfree.blogspot.com It was hard in the two months but I have managed to maintain it for the last two years. It is tough but not impossible. It has even given me a lot of mind control when I see food. If you are serious about loosing weight read it and see if you can do the same.

With all the advertisements for weight loss supplements like Trimspa, Hydroxycut, etc… I’m curious to know more about the positive and negative aspects of using them for weight loss.

They are only a temporary fix and don’t always work. Your best bet is to eat 3 healthy meals a day with a good snack between each meal and get some exercise. Be sure to control the size of your portions you eat and include lots of fresh fruits and veggies.

eat every two to three hours to keep metabolism up
-drink at least 6 glasses of water
-eat organic
-cut out all white carbs, have brown rice, whole grain pasta and whole grain bread instead
-don’t drink juice, soda anything to high in sugar and spices
-take flaxseed oil and GNC’s ultra mega vitamins – they make sure you are getting adqueate nutrition and help burn fat
- start your day off with high fiber cereal, whole milk
-eat nuts, greek yogurt and fruits for snacks.. you can even make fruit smoothies
-eat salads and some form of protien for lunch and dinner – eggs, meats, fish, nuts, beans, seeds etc.

sleep for at least 9 hours a night..

work out for at least an hour a day.. dancing, running pilates etc. whatever is best for you.
